Epoxy Garage Coating Installation San Diego
Surface PreparationSurface preparation is vital to the long term success of all concrete coatings. All surfaces to be coated must be clean and free of mastics or other contaminants that may interfere with bonding. All of our floors are prepared by mechanical diamond grinding to achieve the proper porous surface profile.
The diamond grinding process removes the smooth, hard troweled concrete finish, opening up the concrete pores, allowing the base coat to permanentely adhere to the substrate. |
Base CoatThe base coat is a two-part, high solids, low odor, self priming epoxy designed as a base coat for color chip flooring. Epoxy base coat adheres tenaciously to damp or dry concrete and gives ample time for broadcasting the color chip system. The acrylic vinyl color chips are sprinkled onto the wet base material by the technician using special spike shoes. The color chips are broadcast to refusal for the best appearance and uniform distribution.

Finish CoatAfter the base coat has dried overnight, the chips are thoroughly scraped with a drywall scraper. After scraping, the chips are swept, blown into a corner and collected. Any excess dust is then vacuumed.
The Polyaspartic top coat is then applied. The Polyaspartic is first brushed onto all edges and vertical surfaces. The material is then spread onto the floor by pouring the freshly mixed product on the floor spreading the material evenly with a 3/8" nap roller in one direction, north to south, then immediately backrolled in the opposite direction, east to west. |
